However, plumping for the Aussie to do even better at Valhalla makes sense, as Scott has finished tied for fifth or better in five of the last nine Majors, including in the US PGA at Oak Hill 12 months ago.

An easy case to make, as the Californian is going for a ‘Grand Slam’ of top-five finishes in 2014 after tying for fifth at Augusta and sharing second in both Opens.
Fowler finished in the top 20 at Oak Hill last year, and the 25-year-old’s game has advanced so much since that he looks far too big at 22/1 to grab his first Major in the south, never mind a place.
The shrewd top-ten pick
Graeme McDowell @ 2/1
Another that needs little in the way of argument, as the former US Open winner has claimed shares of tenth, 11th and 12th over the past five renewals of the last Major of the campaign, and is clearly in tip-top form after sneaking into the top ten at Royal Liverpool.
The old-timer who can trouble the top 20
Vijay Singh @ 15/2
Two-time US PGA champion Singh has made the top 20 of this eight times over the past 21 years, with his last such finish coming in 2009.
The 51-year-old retains a place in US PGA and Masters fields as a former winner, with four top-40 finishes bagged over his last five combined appearances at both.
When it is also taken into account that Singh tied for ninth at the British Open just two short years ago, the price on the Fijian managing this more modest achievement in a tournament he clearly loves seems very big.
